Last May 3, the Filipinos were greatly dismayed when our “Pambansang Kamao“, Manny Pacquiao lost his ultimate face off with American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a fight billed as the “Fight of the Century.
Somewhere in the Philippines, on the same day and just after the May-Pac fight, a hilarious bout happened between two Pinoy boxers.
In fact, the video of the fight is making rounds in the internet after it was uploaded by a Facebook user named Cee Jay At first, the boxing fight during the fiesta celebration in Brgy. Tres De Mayo in Digos City, Davao del Sur may look like the usual boxing fight; two men wearing boxing gloves and boxing outfit as they battle it out inside the boxing ring.
But what makes this boxing match different than the rest is the boxers are actually blindfolded, which makes the entire thing hilarious. How can you fight someone when you can’t see? The people watching the match can’t help but laugh as the two boxers search for each other inside the ring, but the boxers did not seem to care and still continued to fight. They used their senses and once they felt a slight movement, they move quickly to attack. Most of the time, they end up punching the air, to the delight of the audience. There are times when they get lucky and able to hit each other, and the more the audience cheered louder as if watching a “real” boxing match. In his Facebook post, Cee Jay captioned the video “The real fight of the century” and added that for those who lost the bet on the May-Pac should watch the “Pacman versus Mayweather Blindfold Edition” and they will surely get a good laugh after.
